Which Injector O-Ring is the best to use in which Repair Tool

Hello, this newsletter I wanted to discuss which injector O-Ring will give you the best performance with which repair tool. Here is the scoop. The red O-Ring and the Black O-Ring do interchange if you are out of one or the other however the Red Injector O-Ring is typically for the Dual Head crack repair tool and can be used with the molded single injector tool especially if you have an older version of that tool. If you have the newer Molded Version or the Triple Start Aluminum Single Injector you will have the best performance with the black injector O-Ring because it is a little stiffer and will stay in the injector the best. Another good way is to try both and see which works best for you.

Next I want to discuss the physics of Long Crack Repair so you may get the best results on you crack repairs. Many of you who have trained hands on with us already know this however I wanted to go over it again. Cracks typically start at the edge of the windshield. And go from there usually with a tiny impact point and no legs. Floater cracks the do not go off the edge account for only 1% to 2% of the cracks you will repair. An edge crack is always repaired from the tip to the edge. The tip will be tight and the gap in the crack will get wider as you go closer to the edge. The resin needed to hold the repair needs to be thicker as the gap gets wider as you inject to the edge. The there is wetting of the crack, if you look at a crack with a microscope you will see the crack is not smooth it has valleys and fissures so you need wetting which means a thin resin the fill in the tiny little places a thick resin cannot penetrate into very easily. This is why we always start at the tip and go to the edge of the windshield with the 45 resin coming out in front of the CUS or COS. CUS is used for cracks 4 inches 18 inches and COS can be used in cracks 12 to 36 inches in length. The tip of the crack will need to be flexed to allow even the 45 to start to fill so and a crack may get tight if it makes a sharp turn further down the crack another reason to use 45 first. If you only have single injectors you need to stage resins. Use 45  until the crack starts to except resin easily then un thread your injector and let the 45 run out then switch to CUS or COS for the rest of the crack because it is starting to gap. Crack very on where they gap but typically you will need 45 for the first 4 to 6 inches of the crack. They problem being is you do not get wetting with the single injector method. I always use a Dual Head injector set up when repairing long cracks.
